My son phoned me with a heavy heart the other day. A foundation had sent some precious children to meet some of the people in the television show he is currently working on. All of these precious little children were in their final stages of life and this foundation was endeavoring to make some of their dreams come true. His heart was heavy and sad! Precious, innocent little girls and boys in the final stages of their short lives.
Generally speaking, Christmas is a time of celebration and joy. However, for many families this can be an extremely trying time, and truth be told, many of them cannot wait for the season to be over. There are sad memories, special loved ones missing from their dinner table and a hollow emptiness seems to permeate their atmosphere.
So as we celebrate this season let us remember:
· Those less fortunate than us
· The needy
· The dying
· The lonely
· The heart sore
· The sick
· The hungry
· The orphan and widow
Let us pray for:
All of the above
War torn nations
Peace on earth
Our own nation
And above all – let us pray that the love of Jesus will penetrate every heart at this time of year. I am praying for all those whose hearts are sad and lonely. May you feel embraced and loved by Jesus and may the message of Christmas fill you for the season and remind you that God loves you and cares about you.
To all of us who have far too much - may we be challenged to love, share and care for others. Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
I pray that His peace will be your portion and will strengthen you through this season.
I am and always will be,
Recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,
