HOW TO FIND PEACE IN ANXIOUS TIMES!

I am not sure about you, but there are times when I feel my anxiety levels rise as I face the challenges of the day.  The world we live in, no longer offers the peace and security we once knew and most of us have some form of anxiety about the future.  However, Jesus said in John 14: 27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”  Ponder those verses for a few short moments with me before you begin this new day.

·      Jesus has promised us peace despite the circumstances:  Here is an incredible truth for us to grasp.  Jesus has offered us His peace even in the midst of trying and difficult situations.  His peace is not dependent upon what is happening around us, His peace is secure because it is found in Him.

·      Jesus peace is different from any other kind of peace: When a worldly leader tries to assure us of peace it is based upon a number of human factors.  Humans are fallible and so their promise of peace is not guaranteed.  Jesus’ peace however is a different kind of peace; it is a peace that can invade your heart and still your mind like nothing else can.  You can try sedatives; they will not have the same impact.  Alcohol will not do it for you!  In fact, no substance, no human can ever offer the kind of peace that Jesus offers here.

·      Jesus peace dispels fear and anxiety:  It is only Jesus’ peace that will bring lasting satisfaction to the human heart.  He said; “Do not let your hearts be troubled.”  Why?  Because although you think your circumstances are in your control, and the events of the world are in the hands of arrogant politicians – they are not!  ‘He holds all things together.’ It is Jesus alone who holds the events of your life together.  It is Jesus who controls the world.  And because of this we do not have to be afraid.

Take courage today my friend.  Jesus offers you His peace.  It is yours for the taking.  Place your confidence in Him.  He holds the world safely in His Hands.  And more importantly, He holds the situations of your life and the lives of those you love so dearly in His safe Hands.  You can rest assured your day will be good if you place it in the Hands of Jesus.

I am and always will be,
