A few days ago, my blog may have appeared somewhat negative. It was not meant to be, I was simply drawing attention to the important fact that we do need to show people God's love. If you haven't read my blog it is entitled: "Why Are Christians So Unkind." The blog stimulated a lot of interest and my hope is that our hearts are challenged to live our lives in a God honoring way in 2015.
I was so saddened this past week by the horrific loss of innocent lives in Paris. My heart aches for this hurting world and the needless killings we see far too often. There is way too much hatred in our world and each one of us who are Christ followers must play our part in bringing God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. I suppose the big question is how we do this? How do we as individuals make a difference in this world? I have identified three ways, I am sure there are a whole lot more, but let me share them briefly.
- By Showing Genuine Love: There is enough hatred in the world to destroy it, but I believe love is a far greater force. If we can reveal God's love to a hurting world then I do think we are playing our part in answering Jesus prayer, "Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven."
- By Living Authentic Lives: Most people can readily identify someone who lacks sincerity. If our actions don't speak louder than our words then we have failed. We should not say one thing and do another. People are longing to encounter genuine, authentic Christianity.
- By Praying More: I don't think prayer should be arduous. Speaking to God should be one of the most natural and delightful parts of our day. I believe that if we do speak a whole lot more to God this year we will help to bring His Kingdom on earth.
I don't know about you, but I am tired of the bloodshed, the waste of human lives, the poverty, the despair and the pain. I know Jesus offers a whole different way of life, but as Christ followers His glory is revealed through us His people. If we don't shine, how desperate this world will be! The only way Jesus Kingdom can come is through us His people. An awesome responsibility! An amazing opportunity.
Let us seize this moment and make a difference in our world today.
I am and always will be,
Recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,
