My life is one long narrative. Along the road there have been failures, successes, challenges, triumphs and tragedies. It is my story, so it is unique just as your story is.
The one ending to my narrative I never want to see is: Carol quit! That is not the conclusion I want to my story. And so I have to determine that in the good times and the bad times I will keep my focus on the goal so as to ensure a good end to my story.
So how do I ensure that the end of my story is a good one? Here are a few principles that I think help to make certain our narrative has a victorious conclusion.
Keep the main thing the main thing: Focus on the important aspects of life. God. Family. Fellowship. Friendship.
Make wise daily choices: We have to keep making wise decisions every single day. One wise decision in our life time is not enough to ensure that our lives will end well—we need to make wise choices every moment of the day.
Ensure you look after your soul: Don't neglect the health of your soul. Many people attend to the physical aspects of life whilst ignoring the health of soul and spirit.
Keep your eyes on the goal: I remind myself daily to 'keep my eyes on Jesus.' The little children's song says it like this: "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."
If you are about to 'throw in the towel' or you just want to run and hide—let me remind you of these few principles you need to put in place in your lives. And remember, never give up! God is with you and for you.
