Good News: "Do Not Be Afraid."

It is true to say that we are living in challenging times.  Many argue that the world is a dangerous place. Whether we are living in the most perilous times or not is not really the point because the perception of most people is that we are living in a precarious world.

I have good news today, the message of Christmas is the story of a God who came to earth to invade the world with His love.  There are some people who have a fear of God and they point to the biblical narrative where Adam and Eve are both hiding from God because they were "afraid." We should never run away from God because He is a loving God slow to anger and quick to forgive.  Perhaps, there have been times where we have been made to feel guilty for our sins and the things we have done and our inclination is to run from God because we fear Him.  God never intended for us to run from Him in fear, He intended for us to run to Him and seek His love and His pardon.

The angel says, "Do not be afraid."  God loves us and His desire for us is good not harm.  That is the incredible message of Christmas my friend.  You do not have to be afraid.  No, God holds the events of this world in His hands even though Downing Street, Washington and the Kremlin might think they do.  God is in control of the world, of your life, and of mine, and that is why at this Christmas time we need to remind ourselves that one of the greatest proclamations of Christmas is; "Do not be afraid"  because God is here.  That is so amazing and so comforting.  God is here! So, don't run from God today, run to Him.  You do not have to hide from Him and feel exposed and ashamed because His intention is for you to run to Him so that He can cover your guilt and shame with His grace and mercy.

The angel said something else that is significant for us today.  "I bring you good news that will cause great joy to all people."  Oh my friend, God is not a kill joy!   No, He sent Jesus into the world to fill it with joy.  And the only way to find real meaning, and complete joy is to ask Jesus into your life.

If you are hurting, lonely or afraid this Christmas I have good news for you—Jesus wants to fill you with His love, peace, and joy this Christmas time.  Open your heart to Him and receive the greatest gift ever!

I am and always will be,

recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,

Carol
