No! No! No! How many times in a week do we hear this two-letter word? I have a couple of grandchildren who are the joy of our lives. I have discovered though, that they love using this little word ‘no!’ They both latched onto the word from early on in their lives and before they could even say the word they could shake their little heads with enough force to amaze me.
I wonder how many times in a day we use this word? Although it can have negative connotations it is one we use frequently and necessarily. It is certainly not a sinful word, but one that needs to be used with caution.
The opposite word to no is yes! This is a word we use less frequently. I was pondering this word today and wondered how many times in the day we say ‘no’ or ‘yes’ to God by our actions, thoughts, and our words. To say ‘yes’ to God is an acknowledgement that He holds the prime place in our heart and life. Consider the following ponderings for a moment!
· We have the choice to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to God: That tells me that He is a loving God. He has given us free will and He never imposes or forces us into any decision or action without us consenting of our own volition. This is not a controlling God – He is loving.
· We all get offered the same choice: God’s invitation is to everyone. He calls us into a relationship with Himself. Let us remember, Christianity is not an exclusive religion…no it is for anyone and everyone, regardless of race, color, creed, age, or gender. What a marvelous faith.
· Our choice will determine our destiny: I know there are people who think that saying yes to God is too difficult. However, I do believe that God’s reward is so much richer and fuller than the benefits of following our own pathway. Yes, sometimes there are sacrifices and we have to pay a price, but in the end it is worth it.
I am so glad for the day I said ‘yes’ to God. I must be honest and admit life has not always been easy. No, I have had a lot of heartache, challenges, and sleepless nights. But I would not change my life for all the money in the world. You see, at night time I go to bed with a deep peace in my heart. I lie next to a man who also said ‘yes’ to God and together we are committed to honoring Him until the day He takes us to our eternal home.
If you haven’t said ‘yes’ to God perhaps today is the day. Maybe He has led you to read this blog so that you can bow your head in His presence and say ‘yes’ to a kind, caring and loving God who has your best interest at heart.
My only regret is that I did not say ‘yes’ even earlier than I did!
I am and always will be,
Recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,
