I prayed a different prayer in our devotions this morning and I felt inspired to write about this prayer and encourage you to the same.

Paul and I have been married for forty years this year.  We love each other and are totally committed to one another.  However, as I was praying for our Trinity community, I also prayed a prayer over our marriage.  I asked Jesus to "...put a hedge around us, to guard our marriage from the onslaughts of the enemy—to put a shield around our minds so that the darts of the enemy would bounce off."

You see, no matter how long we have served God, been married, loved one another, we are still prone to the attacks of the enemy.  But if we put a guard around our minds and lock the gates of our thinking, when Satan comes to entice and tempt the barrier is impenetrable because the gates are locked and so, he must flee.  1 Peter 5: 8 says; "Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."  When the enemy comes to tempt, entice, and discourage us, may he find the gates locked and the barrier impenetrable.

I want to protect my thought life so that my mind will be clean and clear.  I am the only one who can do this.  I am the guardian of my mind—no one else is!  So I must do everything to ensure that there is a barrier around my mind, the gate is locked, and Satan cannot penetrate it.

I hope I have encouraged someone out there today.

I am and always will be,

recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,
