Inner Strength Grows Best during Our Weakness and Trial!

As I reflect back on the moments of vulnerability and weakness in my life, I realize that those were the times when I grew internally.  I never enjoyed those moments when I was going through them, but those were the periods when my inner fortitude was developed.

So, as I ponder the times of pain, weakness and vulnerability in my life, what are some of the lessons I have learned through those periods?

1.  Bad days don't last forever:  The Bible says: "Weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning."  Yes, it is true that when we are going through tough times it feels as if those seasons will never end.  But, the bible reminds us that joy does come in the morning.  Friend, your trouble will pass and a new day will dawn.  Keep trusting and keep hoping.

2.  God is with you even if you can't feel Him:  There have been seasons in my life where I have not felt God's presence.  Yet, I know His word to be true and the bible tells me that Jesus says, "I will never leave you or forsake you."  So, even when I don't feel God is with me, I know He is there because His word tells me that He is.  I know I can trust Him and that He will see me through.  Your faith is not dependent upon how you feel about God—it is what you know about God to be true!

3.  Beauty can arise from the ashes of life:  I don't enjoy pain any more than anyone else.  I never look for pain, or trials because they will come whether I want them to or not.  But I do know this—from my pain, the ashes of my life, something beautiful usually does arise.  I love Isaiah 61:3 " bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."  That is precisely what God does.  He turns our mourning into dancing and praise, and makes beauty out of ashes of our lives.  Keep trusting Him my friend, your night will pass and morning will come.

4.  Never give up:  Don't be a quitter.  Keep looking to Jesus and keep trusting in Him.  Hebrews 12 says that we should keep our eyes on Jesus.  Don't look behind, don't look to the left or the right, but keep your focus on Jesus and He will see you through.

To all those going through a period of trial and weakness, may you be encouraged today.  Jesus is with you, and He will see you through.  The clouds will part, the sun will shine and beauty will arise from the ashes of your life.  Be encouraged today to keep on keeping on.

I am and always will be, recklessly abandoned, ruthlessly committed and in relentless pursuit of Jesus,
